The Day After Christmas...

Is likely the day a huge number of people in America dread the most... Why you may ask? Because it's stunning the statistics you see on how many run up credit card debt or tap into home equity to 'finance' their gift buying... I read this one article titled: 'Christmas debt is hard to avoid'... It's also stunning the number of people who run up so much debt that it takes until May and for some right up until the next Christmas to pay off the debt... Here's a novel idea, how about not going into debt at all? If I didn't have money to buy Christmas presents, then I'd either make something or do something for them, all the while making sure everyone understood the actual reason for the season! Too many don't though, and it's stunning...

I hate to admit we have done it... but that was long ago. Definitely learned our lesson on that one - it's just so stupid when you think of it. Now, if we don't have the cash for it, then we don't buy it! One year, we didn't have money for Christmas (the year we moved here - we moved on Christmas Eve), so we just postponed our gift giving for a few weeks. The kids were thrilled in mid-January when we had our Christmas celebration. :)
