Craigslist...

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this site lately??? I put a wanted ad on there day before yesterday saying I needed these areas graded:

I got many replies from people that wanted to do it. In the ad I had said that I have a bobcat, just come do it. Why don't you do it Matt you might ask... Well, have you ever driven one? It's an art, that's for sure. Anyway, Enrique is coming out tomorrow morning at 7:30AM to do it for me. I told him about the concrete pad for the pool house, and he was like: "That's my trade, I'll help you do that too if you want." We'll see how that works out, but I think I lucked out!!! So while I'm out tomorrow helping the Van Meters move, my work will be getting done for me!!! :)

In case anyone is wondering, that is all the dirt they dug out for the pool. I saved $2K by having them just dump it there, and Enrique is only charging me $120 to grade it out!!! I LOVE Craigslist!!! :)

Yes, I AM aware that the gutter has fallen off that little garage I've got... Hasn't been a HUGE concern for me yet! I'm actually going to paint that a different color to match the pool house, and reshingle the roof and fix the gutters. Not a priority in the SLIGHTEST though at the moment, so who knows when that will happen... 2009 maybe?? :)

lol. why not annex it to the pool house with an outdoor courtyard in the middle.

perhaps a gazeebo in the middle?

I didn't know you could do that on Craigs list???? good to know. :D we could have used that to get someone to haul all the crap away.

I've found that you can use Craigslist for EVERYTHING!!! I LOVE it! :)

LOL Titus... Don't think I haven't thought about running power to that garage and making it my workshop... :)

GREAT IDEA!!!!!

I may actually tap into that 2 gauge wire I'm running to the pool and the pool house and run a few circuits off of it to that garage, and just hook it up later!! I think I'm going to actually! They tell me you can run anything you want off of 2 gauge wire, so I'll take their word for it... :)

I know how to wire things up, run different circuits, etc, but I am not that up on gauge, amps, volts, etc...

that shit is pretty straight forward. i'm sure you can run it off in a side trench, cap it, and then tackle it later.

LOL! Yeah, most of it is... The question I've been pondering though is if I install a 100 Amp breaker in the main panel box, run it out to the sub-panel, and then hang a 60 Amp, 30 Amp, and 6 20 or 15 Amp circuits off of it, will that be okay... :)

I asked the electrician I bought the wire from off of Craigslist, but have not heard back from him yet... Of course I JUST asked him an hour or so ago... :)

can't you run a different box in between the pool house and the (to be) workshop?

then just run from the main line directly to that box.

i'm no electrician... :D

Matthew said...

LOL! Nor am I! An electrician that is... Yeah, I suppose I could, but I was thinking why not just bury the cable for the circuits running to the garage. That way, no extra box is needed. Run two or three circuits to it, should be plenty. I'll just get a 12 slot, 24 circuit sub-panel, and I think it will work... We'll see... :)

Wow - you make me tired just talking about all that work!! :-)

Of course at the moment I'm so busy trying to get everything printed, ordered, built, etc. for the Home and Family Expo that I don't have time to do much else. Especially between that and my new job.

But, I enjoy working on websites, printing things, etc., more than doing all that home repair/upgrade stuff anyway.

Yeah Joshua, I enjoy all that MUCH more than the repair/remodel stuff as well!! Someone has to do it though! :)

I save TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars by doing it myself, which is why I do it!!
