Flags of Our Fathers...

I watched this film tonight, it was a good film... Made me think of a few things... People think we are at war today, but it's really a game compared to some of the wars we've been through... Although, this 'game' may end up being worse than some of the wars we have fought... We'll see, it's all political now...

I wondered as I watched the film, will my children, as I am laying on my deathbed, be standing over me? I hope they will, we'll see... Fathers, a difficult role, but you never get a second chance...

Speaking of war, I caught parts of the special on Fox:

Radical Islam: Terror in Its Own Words

Stunning some of it... The things they teach their children and how they brainwash them... Even simple things like telling them that Pepsi stands for: 'Pay Each Penny to Save Israel'

On and on it goes, no wonder they all hate us, they are taught from birth to not only despise us but to kill us...

Most Americans will never know this though, and probably haven't a clue as to what is going on... Yet they want us to be PC and not offend any of them, while their sole intention is to someday kill us all...

We watched this movie this weekend too. It was really good.

I think Andy would disagree with you that this war is a game - since he's been out there in the middle of the fire fights, getting his humvee blown up, losing friends. War is war and it is tragic if 5 men are lost or if 5 million men are lost, and it has an effect on the soldiers that are fighting it.

That is true about radical islam... not sure how ppl don't understand why they hate us - it is ingrained into them from birth.

Game might have been the wrong choice of words... :) I just meant in terms of being PC... Turn the troops loose unrestricted without them having to worry about offending anyone and it would have been over a while ago...

well that's true. lol

as far as all the PC goes - that's enough to make anyone nauseous. Of course, from the looks of the story in 'flags of our fathers', this country has been worried about PC for longer than I thought.

True, but you also have to keep in mind Clint Eastwoods philosophy that war is always for naught... So the movie is shot through his lense... I tried to find the link to that statement that Clint recently made, but couldn't find it, I'll look again later and post it... :)

Yeah I know nothing about Clint Eastwood's personal views on war. Wasn't the movie based on a book by the son of that guy (Ryan Phillippe's character)?
