Not that I am AS obsessed as I was, but I got a reply back from the guy who wrote that book:
St. Thomas Church, Morgantown, Pa: A Parish History 1740-1990
He sent me a few files, I've responded back to him with more data so hope to hear more. Is anyone else interested in this stuff?? I did buy that book off of Ebay a few days ago, but have not received it yet. If anyone is interested in getting updates via e-mail when I find out new things, let me know, I'll put you on the 'list'... :)
It intrigues me to no end for some reason, why? I have no freaking clue... It just does... :)

I guess it will be a short "list" then... :)
NO, I would like to know, too! I love this stuff.
For Christmas this year, my parents gave us my family crest/shield . We aren't sure it is 100% right, but my dad has the same one in his office, Pete got it a few years ago, and now we have one. I would love to get something like that of your family so we can have both families represented. :D So, Yep, count me in on being intersted! :D I love this stuff, too!

It is fascinating! I've searched in vain for some sort of family crest/shield but have yet to find one... So I suppose I'll have to just make my own! :)
I want on the list, but you probably already knew that - even though I didn't email you back yet. :)
I'm completely fascinated. I'm trying to make a connection to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, or rather I WAS trying to make a connection when I was actually putting time into all this. I will get back into it though. I'm glad to have someone else as interested as me. :)
LOL! Yeah, I knew you wanted on the list Petra... :)
I become more interested when I find out things aren't true that we've been told... We've been told growing up that we are related to this person or that person, well, I want to see the links! We can pretty much rule out that whole, "We're related to Daniel Boone" myth though! Unless someone feels they can prove me wrong! :)
Oh I know - I wonder about all these stories that were such obvious fabrications. It's all so bizarre.
i would like to know, been off internet a few days -- too much to do.
Yeah, I think we have reached the end of the line on the Goodling name, or at least the know line. This guy I've been communicating with has been studying it for 40 years. Six generations ago, there were two brothers, Christian and Adam, he comes from Christians descendants, we come from Adams. I'll post about it soon... :)
That would be known! :)
Super nice guy I might add, he should be sending me a photo of Adams tombstone I hope.
I received a bunch of info on the Lenfest family back when I was researching before, and never went through it - and now I can't find it (not that I've searched *too* thoroughly). Grammy Boone's maiden name was Lenfest - and supposedly Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was an uncle in that line... who knows if that's just another story though. lol!
I think we'd have to actually GO to Pfalz or Switzerland to trace the Goodling line back further. My genealogy goal is to get each branch of the lines back to another country. Once I get to that point (if I ever get there), then I'm sure I'll want to go further though.
LOL! Yeah, the more I research it, I'm not believing anything we were ever told about it unless I can see it myself! :)
I think that is what Evans has done, traveled to other countries in his research of the Goodling name, I'm not sure if he has gone to Switzerland, but I know he has been to Europe. That Switzerland link though is a little suspect... More on that later though, I know everyone will be on pins and needles waiting! :)
Awesome Matt, it would be nice to know some more information.
